Stamped Cross Stitch – For stamped cross stitch the design is printed on the fabric usually as X’s. The design is completely sewn over so the printing will not show on the end result. A legend in the instructions shows what color is to be used for each X.
To make horizontal stitches on a row, stitch the first half of each X. Insert your needle just beyond the end of the printed X. Then come back across the row stitching the other half of the X. Insert the needle in the same hole as the stitch you are meeting to ensure the crosses meet at the corners. The vertical stamped cross stitch should be worked one at a time. For the best appearance you want to make sure your stitches are uniform.
There are many stamped cross stitch kits that include all you need to make fun patterns on baby bibs, baby quilts, aprons, or pillow cases for example. There are kits to make pictures of animals or of scenery. Stamped cross stitch pictures by famous artists are also available in kits. Whether for yourself or as a gift the end result will be a beautiful, cute or even whimsical design.
